Starting week 8 with the feedback given from our mentors:

Because our mentors had to leave earlier today we had a shorter review session but nick was able to deliver some great advice via email.

I created a table to organize Nick's advice so it would be easier for us to focus on whats important and make sure we don't miss anything!

This week has been a very busy week our team has gotten a lot of work done on our shots focusing on our hero shots which are shot 5 and shot 7. We decided to cut shot 4 to lessen our workload so the quality of our other shots doesn't suffer.

Progress: Disclaimer : Colorspace issues are causing the plates colors to be in accurate

Shot 3: No progress this week

Shot 5: In shot 5 I improved the mattes and did more roto tracking of her arms hair and face. I hand-painting areas where there were keying errors in the background. I improved day-to-night continuity, created a new matte painting for the background, and created new volumetric rays.

Shot 6: In shot 6 I began working on fixing the colorspace and I comped the new plate with the back scar from Kristof into the day to night.

Shot 7: in shot 7 I re-tracked the wings with mocha and colored and integrated them, painted and tracked shadows for where they go behind the actress. I also added reflective bounce light on the actress's arms for wing integration. I also added volumetric rays by split comping two frames together and tracking them in. I also improved day-to-night continuity by color-correcting each object separately

Challenges:

While exporting all my progress this week for our week 9 review I noticed that my colors were different than my viewer. I hadn't noticed before because my colors weren't matching but after comparing them in nuke and then comparing them all rendered out I figured out that my colorspaces were all different. This issue created a big setback as I now have to go through all the scripts to make sure everything matches without losing my day-to-night colors in the process.
