Post Review:

During our week 7 review with our mentors, we were able to get some more advice and I was able to get some tips on how to improve my matte for shot 5.

-For improving my Shot 5 matte some advice I got was..

-Use seperate keyers and channel merges for keying tough areas

-Use a Luminance key along with a filter erode for clamped brightness.

-Possibly Rig the feathers in the face so they move in layers

-Multiply the face feathers over the plate to get some shadows back in the face

-add frame number burn ins at the bottom of shots

-try to fake the alpha with color corrects and cuting some of the hair off

-lower shot 3 saturation

This week we are focusing on getting our hero shots to 90% by next Tuesday's review.

In the hero shots, I still have quite a bit of work to do, the day-to-night transition have been taking a lot longer than previously expected.

For shot 4:

-Create fg matte

-Paint patch bg

-Day to Night grading

For shot 5:

- finish matte

- color and grade foreground and background

- finish bird flying transition

- finish volumetrics

For shot 6:

-add volumetrics

For shot 7:

- match with shot 5 days to night transition

- add bird-flying dmp

Week 7 Progress:

Shot 3:

In shot three I lowered the saturation of the leaves, I would like to adjust the black levels still too it feels very washed I may redo the color of this shot overall.

Shot 4:

I didn't get too much work done on Shot 4, I applied a basic unfinished grade. I was going to create smaller paint patches for the grade but there is a light change mid-shot from the camera being overexposed. I do have a clean plate for this shot so I may try to paint the one frame and re-track it back in.

Shot 5:

I made a lot of improvements on my matte from last week by using more keyers and rotoing and different mattes as well as the despill madness gizmo. I finally got a mocha pro license so it made rotos a lot easier and faster to do

Shot 6:

Not much progress on shot 6 but it is my goal for color grading.

Shot 7:

Because I finally got a mocha pro license I was able to actually track in the dmp I made successfully. We are having some issues with the wings track because of the different angle but next week I am going to retrack it with mocha and hopefully get a more successful result.
