Final Video:
Overall this class was a great learning experience. Having been on the compositing side of the pipeline last quarter it was very rewarding to be able to experience the FX side of the pipeline. I think as a compositor it made me appreciate the hard work the effects artist do to try to get updates in on time for comp. I am very proud of the project my group and I were able to put together these past 10 weeks.

HARBOR X SCAD VSFX CLASS

FX Breakdowns:
Fern Breakdown:
Below is the breakdown for my Fern Plant, each of the plants (Fern, Eucalyptus, and Vine) were created with the same technique they just had their leaves or stems rotated and had different textures applied.
All plants

Full Fern Node Graph:

Leaf Creation: (Read left to right)
Stem with animation creation:
created with a curve and then retains the normals,
animated with a rig attribute node and an attribute VOP,
animating bend node with keyframes for further fluid animation

Turning the Curve into stem geometry:

Instancing Leaves :
adding more noise to the leaf and then animating the time shift so the leaves unfurl one at a time by referencing the for each function

Setting up normals on the curve for the Leaves to be instanced on:
separating the normals by grouping every other and then flipping the normal's axis' so the leaves face the correct way

Instancing each leaf onto the stem:
copies each leaf onto the normals from the curve stem
